Music, Mystery, and Marriage
The first weekend of January saw Comhaltas Chríost Rí ring in the New Year in spectacular fashion with a fun-filled and action-packed outing in the capital! Highlights of the weekend included the group’s attendance at a definitive performance of Handel’s Messiah in the National Concert Hall on the feast of the Epiphany, marking 275 years since the première of the masterpiece in Dublin, in 1742. On the Saturday, fired up by an inspirational talk on the importance of being an apostle, the group carried out some apostolate in the St John’s neighbourhood, in pairs, sharing the Faith door-to-door and delivering informative flyers. A walk in Bray in the afternoon was followed by a very interesting conference on the topic of courtship by Fr Griego. In the evening, an exhilarating Murder Mystery dinner with a Wild West theme took place, showcasing a number of the group’s incredible acting abilities and bringing an eventful Saturday to a dramatic close! On Sunday, the group helped serve and sing the Mass of the Holy Family and, in the afternoon, got to perfect their ice-skating skills on the rink! The weekend was a resounding success and a fantastic start to 2017. We look forward to the many other outings the year holds. ¡Viva Cristo Rey!
