The Lorica of St Patrick

I arise today through a mighty strength,

The invocation of the Holy Trinity,

Through a belief in the Threeness,

Through a confession of the Oneness of the Creator of all creation.

I arise today strengthened by Christ’s own Baptism,

Made strong by His Crucifixion and His Burial,

Made strong by His Resurrection and Ascension,

Made strong by His Descent to meet me on the Day of Judgement.

I gird myself today with the power of God:

God’s strength to comfort me,

God’s might to uphold me,

God’s wisdom to guide me,

God’s eye to look before me,

God’s ear to hear me,

God’s word to speak for me,

God’s hand to lead me,

God’s way to lie before me,

God‘s shield to protect me,

God’s Angels to save me,

From the snares of the devil,

From temptations to sin,

From all who wish me ill,

Both far and near,

Alone and with others.

I gird myself today with the power of Christ:

Christ be with me,

Christ before me,

Christ behind me,

Christ in me,

Christ beneath me,

Christ above me,

Christ on my right,

Christ on my left,

Christ where I lie,

Christ where I sit,

Christ where I arise,

Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,

Christ in the mouth of every man that speaks of me,

Christ in every eye that sees me,

Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today through a mighty strength,

The invocation of the Holy Trinity,

Through a belief in the Threeness,

Through a confession of the Oneness of the Creator of all creation.

Salvation is of the Lord + Salvation is of Christ - Salvation is of the Lord.

May Thy salvation, O Lord, be ever with us.  Amen.
