Comhaltas Chríost Rí met last weekend in Dublin for another occasion to meet with likeminded Catholics to learn more about the Faith and enjoy some time together. The weekend began with an early morning Mass during which Fr. Ockerse, the newly assigned chaplain of the group, reminded us that we should take the example of the martyrs St. Simon and St. Jude and apply it to our daily lives by truly living our Faith. In the afternoon we headed to the Adventure Rooms in Dublin where the group, divided into four teams battled it out to be the first to escape the locked room they were in. Unfortunately the team named "The Winners" came out the losers! That evening, Fr. Ockerse led a very interesting discussion on the topic of religion and how to defend the faith in our daily lives when questions are asked of us.
For those working and for students alike this was very relevant and pertinent to everyone. We finished the day with a Catholic Quiz which "The Winners" lost again and a singalong accompanied by Fr. Ockerse and Fr. Petrucci on the guitar and Kevin on the banjo. Sunday was dedicated to the celebration of the feast of Christ the King with the young adults group contributing to it by serving the Mass or singing in the choir. The weekend was brought to a close following a walk at Killiney hill where Fr. Ockerse spoke to us regarding SAVE8, the newly formed prayer group that will pray to save the 8th amendment between now and the referendum next year. After this, everyone headed home with new found resolve to carry on the fight, Viva Cristo Rey!
